There are sculptures outside the museum, but if it’s outdoor sculptures you’re after, the next stop in Purchase has many to offer. It features prints from Chuck Close, Andy Warhol, and Sol LeWitt. The Neuberger Museum also has collections of paintings from artists such as Georgia O’Keefe, Milton Avery, Jackson Pollack, and even Mark Rothko. Among West Chester’s attractions are the American Helicopter Museum, Tree House World, QVC’s studio tours and the Brandywine Picnic Area. There are dozens of eateries and some are very well-liked including Limoncello, Avenue Kitchen and Shoo Mama’s. Among the highlights of West Chester are art galleries, some interesting home furnishings stores, like Acorn Cottage Style and Old Soul Décor, several clothing stores, including BLINK and Kiki Boutique and plenty of health and beauty, jewelry and gift shops. In West Chester, I tell my clients, your money goes a lot further than it does on the Main Line, but commuting distance is longer to the city. Brick walkways and repurposed old buildings combined with upscale shops and restaurants and a lively, bustling student population (West Chester University is just a few blocks away) make it a very popular spot.Īs you move south toward Chadds Ford Kennett Square, there are many established communities as well as a few newer ones, but most of the large, new homes are located to the west. The borough is the county seat and the downtown is lovely. While not considered part of the Main Line, it is immediately to the west. West Chester is about an hour’s drive from center city, depending on which section you’re in, as it covers a wide geographic area.
